How Chris Odom Impacts Renegades in 2025

One of the top available players in the UFL stays in Texas as Chris Odom signs with the Arlington Renegades.

Pro Football Newsroom’s James Larsen reported early Monday afternoon that Odom would be signing with the Renegades with training camp starting later this week.

Last season was a triumphant return to spring football for Odom after playing in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns straight from his stint in the USFL with the Houston Gamblers. Odom was tied for sixth in the UFL in sacks in 2024 with 5.5. He also posted 31 tackles and two forced fumbles that helped him land on the All-UFL team.

Prior to the UFL, Odom played for the Browns as he made three tackles and a sack in preseason. A torn ACL at the end of the 2022 preseason ended his season and would get cut from the team in 2023.

His play with the Gamblers in the USFL put him on the map as one of the best defensive players in spring football. Odom was the league’s sack leader with 12.5 as he was named to the All-USFL team and was named defensive player of the year.

The Renegades needed a pass rusher after losing their top guy Jalen Redmond to the NFL as he played for the Minnesota Vikings this past season. Odom will be on the level of Willie Taylor and Tuzar Skipper as edge rushers on the team.

Arlington does not have Vic Beasley this season after finishing with 5.5 sacks a season ago. With the Renegades retooling the edge of the defense, Odom adds another element to the unit that was needed for this year’s roster.

A move like this could be what head coach Bob Stoops needs to make the Renegades a legitimate contender in 2025.
